Subject and Lecturer Evaluations - Radiographic Pathology II (2009 to 2011)
These evaluations are part of the institution’s quality assurance mechanisms to monitor learning and teaching. I usually enjoy positive responses from students and value them as they validate my teaching agenda. All ‘negative’ responses are equally valued and changes are effected, if appropriate. I continuously evolve my teaching to making it more student centred and ‘student friendly’ I have included samples for different subjects across the last 3 years. The reports are important in the overall analyse, but personally, I find that the students comments have more meaning for me.
This subject is the most challenging in the program, mostly due to the volume. It is also very didactic and dull and boring. Some of the innovations tried in this subject , particularly elearning proved an enormous challenge for these students. (see subject reports links in right column). The subject reports show that most of our students are very inadequately prepared for university, they do not want to take responsibility for their learning, they still want to be taught the traditional way, they wants notes and do not seem adaptable to changing environments. They do not want to read. This attitude and responses has not deterred my practices, however I have made changes where appropriate to ensure learning is not hindered. The reports suggest that the blended teaching strategy had a negative effect on learning, however the online classrooms show a different story and there has been a 100% pass rate in the subject.

Informal reports on poor performance – Radiographic Pathology II
Students perform poorly in theory assessments. They are often asked to complete informal reflective reports on their performance, especially the 'at risk students'. Most of the findings confirm that our students are not adequately prepared for university, have poor study habits and have major social dilemmas. (see Samples -Student evaluation reports one, two and three)
Similar reports in Radiographic Practice III D - see questionnaire and responses.
All students who are identified as 'at-risk' are sent to the Academic Development Office and referred for counseling, when necessary.
